This charming café in the district of Eixample, Barcelona, is a treasure that more people need to discover! Eat My Trip is a food experience, offering beautifully presented and extremely delicious breakfasts, brunches and coffees. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the café’s décor is a cross between Alice and Wonderland (with furniture on the roof) and a classic hipster café, with wooden furniture, minimalistic design and a bright neon sign saying “For the Sake of Cake”. At the weekends, Eat My Trip is very popular but it shouldn’t be a long wait for a table. There is even a small outside area! Prices for food are very reasonable (€8-€15), particularly as all ingredients are ecological and organic and everything is homemade.
The café was set up by Genia Sukhacheva, who worked hard to make her dream of owning a café a reality. After trying to open the café three times and with help from family and friends who worked extremely hard, from doing the painting and decorating to the cake-making, she got the café up and running. Read the rest of her incredible story here.
In the past month, I have visited Eat My Trip twice and I intend to go back soon! I will take you through a couple of the dishes and drinks I sampled in this wonderful café
As a girl who is very sensitive to caffeine, I love to go for decaf coffee and caffeine-free drinks. All of the coffee in Eat My Trip is organic so they don’t provide decaf coffee. Instead, I opted for a chai latte which was delicious! At a price of €3.50, I can safely say it was worth it!
Eat My Trip Smoothie
The second time around, I felt like trying something a bit healthier so I opted for the “Finns Forest Smoothie”. This was a mixture of strawberry, blueberry, almond milk, coconut and much more! It had a creamy, fruity flavour but wasn’t tangy and it felt full of goodness. It was served in a mason jar, decorated with coconut and flaked almonds! This was a slightly more expensive €5.50 but it lasted me throughout the whole brunch.
Poached eggs with guacamole and bacon on toast
These were scrumptious! The menu offers a choice of poached, scrambled or fried eggs on toast, to which you can add guacamole, bacon, Jamon serrano, tomatoes, mushrooms and so much more! You get two slices of toast, which are lovely and crunchy, and plenty of your chosen toppings. A great choice for a savoury treat. The dish costs €5.95 for just eggs and all extras are €1.50 or €2.00
A scrumptious combination of pancakes, white and milk chocolate sauce, honeycomb balls, and an ice-cream cone. This dish was a delight! The soft, fluffy pancakes were heavenly but definitely for someone with a sweet tooth. Again, the presentation was flawless. These were just €8.95.
Passionfruit soaked toast and candyfloss
When we ordered this dish, none of us quite expected what came out of the kitchen! Served on a large plate, this sweet breakfast initially appears to be just a cloud of candyfloss. When you lift it up, underneath you will find the passionfruit toast, with sauce, marshmallows and all kinds of other surprises. The only way to reach it is to eat through the candyfloss first. Of course, we loved that part! Again, only €8.95 for this yummy dish!
In summary, Eat My Trip serves incredible food with stunning presentation. They are open every day from 9:30-17:00 and you will be served by friendly employees who are enthusiastic about the food. Genia is usually working there and is always very grateful for the positive feedback. If you do visit this beautiful café, make sure to leave your feedback on Trip Advisor, or tag them in any photos you take of their marvellous creations.
